Why Use Infographics?

by Author on

“A picture is worth a thousand words”. While this line has been quoted several times in books and movies – and proven true more often than not – we cannot deny the fact that written words are still relevant in conveying the right message. If not, why do novels and books still survive to this present day? Fact is – words are powerful. It can attract, captivate, and influence.

However, pictures and words are imperfect by themselves. This is according to a study done by Barbara M. Miller and Brooke Barnett. They said that words, alone, rely on the reader’s ability to comprehend while pictures cannot explain an entirely complex and abstract idea. Combining them, we quote, “allow communicators to take advantage of each medium’s strengths and diminish each medium’s weaknesses.”

Here is where infographics take the stage. Infographics is basically a combination of two words – information and graphics. These are informative visuals that incorporate meaningful images and factual data into one easily-understandable presentation. It is an advertisement medium strongly used by rising and existing business firms to further their cause. And, a form of digital graphics that Graphic Zoo is particularly (and amazingly) capable of creating for you.

Why should you use infographics for your business? Here are a few (really important) reasons why:

It’s easy to understand.

Infographics are carefully designed in such a way that information follows a certain pattern that people can easily discern. It is not randomly pasted words and images. Data can be presented by flow (top-bottom, mapping, or centralized) or in chronological order (as in the case of long-existing companies). It has to be meaningful in order to be effective.

Whatever the case, this just proves that making one is no easy task. This is better done by someone who already knows the ropes. Lucky for you, Graphic Zoo is here to help.

It’s visually appealing.

Just as people like looking at pretty faces, an infographic must be appealing enough to captivate the reader’s attention. This way you get to hook them into reading the entire thing. If the placement of data and images isn’t done right, it will simply turn out like an old history booklet – boring. And you wouldn’t want your potential buyers to think this way.

An infographic is a blend of creativity and truth. The design should be clear and interesting enough to help the readers follow and the information enclosed within must all be facts. A good infographic is an honest infographic.

It’s a growing fad.

Many businesses are trying infographic magic in their marketing pursuits. Some use numbers to subtly tell the readers of their popularity (e.g. Last year the company has sold over 1,000,000 boxes of cereal), while others would give information about their ability to satisfy their buyers (e.g. our product promises 98% guaranteed satisfaction). Another way businesses can make use of an infographic is when they want to impart their company’s history – marketing their years of business experience.

Try to surf around the web for a bit. You’ll see that almost everyone who’s anyone in the business world have tried using infographics at some point in their marketing efforts. It promotes identity and it is cost efficient. Plus, you can use it almost anywhere. You can have it posted in social media websites like Facebook and Instagram or have it made into banners and pamphlets. Either way, you can use the same layout on different media platforms. Sounds promising, doesn’t it?

Now, if you’re feeling inspired and looking to try and have one made for yourself, trust that at Graphic Zoo , you are in good hands. Always.
